Henry's Hankerings

Hello ye humans. It is I, Henry, and I know it's been awhile since I last blogged. I apologize for my absence but my mother is fully to blame. She's been hogging our new computer like a crazy woman. And crazy she is, because I've heard her talking to herself a lot lately---especially when she's on the computer. And my dad? He's been studying his face off for his first big tests in PT school. They are quite the pair I tell you. But enough of them, let's move on to me, shall we?

My mom made me pose for an absurd amount of pictures in our backyard. Something about wanting to learn more about our camera and maybe get a few 'frame worthy' shots of my cute face.

She plopped me onto this aqua chair because it supposedly brings out my eyes, but alas, the chair was unbalanced. I freaked out right after this picture because I thought the chair might attack me on it's way down.
Oh, and did I mention that it's freaking HOT being a dog? I have this thick sweater of fur, I can't sweat, and my mom makes me sit outside in the 85 degree heat to snap pictures like this:
Now I'll admit, this weekend brought the first 80 degree temperatures since last October, so it's not like I have it that bad. Mom was practically skipping around the house all weekend, saying, "Henry! It's actually NICE outside for once. Can't you just smell summer?" Um, no, mom. All I can smell is people food an I want to lick it.
This is my, "What the heck do you want, lady?" face. You like?
So. Hot. Outside. Might. Die.
Now that's better, inside where I can escape the scorching temperatures.
I think I earned my nap today, don't you?
And then mom got up close and personal, trying to play with the macro settings. My nose is one of my defining features, you know.
But don't worry, the weather didn't stay nice for long. In fact we had tornado warnings [not just watches, people] every day from Friday until Sunday. It was quite frightening if you ask me. Mom says that working in a hospital is really fun when we have tornado warnings. She had to help get every patient out from their rooms and into the hallways and it was a nightmare. She doesn't want to talk about it, but here is a picture to prove our twister weather:
In between lightening bolts, thunder claps, and pouring rain there were moments of sunshine. When mom got tired of my drooling tongue as her subject, she turned to the pink peonies in our backyard. There is just something about pink and flowers that she loves, go figure.

Other happenings in my household include:

~mom successfully rescued all of their songs from the dying laptop. It took 11 CDs to backup their iTunes library but it worked and now she's jamming out to forgotten songs.

~mom and dad ran their 6 miles down at the lake front on Saturday. From what I hear it was awesome, not horrible, and very entertaining. They even saw a man dressed in a gorilla suit for some odd reason!

~one thing that mom forgot before training for this marathon: her appetite gets out of control. Insatiable, actually. Famished at all hours of the day. She sounds just like Chris Farley on SNL when he plays the Gap girl. You know the quote, don't you? "LAY OFF ME, I'M STARVING."

So that's it. My take on life right now. Which of my pictures are your favorites? Do you think any made the 'frame worthy' category?

Tagged

I got tagged by KG at A Lighter Shade of Green, and I decided to follow through with this one for a change:)

The Rules: Answer the following questions about yourself. At the end of the post you pass on the questions to 6 other bloggers and list their names. Then write them a comment telling them that they've been tagged and ask them to read your blog. Let the person who tagged you know that you've accepted the challenge and refer to your post.

1. What did you do 10 years ago? Well, I was 17 and probably playing basketball or volleyball in some random tournament for my club teams. It was the summer before my senior year in high school which means there was definitely drama to endure. And I was probably fretting about outfits for my senior pictures.

2. Five items on your to-do list today:
1. Run 6 miles and not die.
2. Figure out a stupid FTP site for my business without slamming my head into the desk.
3. Sit outside and catch some rays.
4. I try to avoid to-do lists on the weekends.
5. Because I like to think I have nothing to do :)

3. Snacks I enjoy: homemade granola, smoothies, cereal [if I'm feeling healthy]. If not, probably chocolate and deep fried goodness.

4. What would you do if you were a billionare? Pay off all school loans, buy a house, give a chunk to our parents, a nice chunk to charities, and then travel to obscure places around the world. Don't tempt me to think about these things, it's not fair!

5. Places I would live:

South Carolina:

Arizona:
Chicago:
I don't know why these places are on my list, but they are. We came this close to relocating to Chicago instead of Milwaukee after the wedding. I love that city. I adore Arizona [hello freakishly hot weather!!!] and South Carolina seems like the sweetest southern state. I could see us there someday. In reality, we probably won't uproot ourselves anytime soon--one traumatic move to a new state is enough for me right now:)

I'm not feeling the 'tag' part of this post right now, so if you are reading and want to participate, go for it!

Catch up

I feel as though I need to catch you up on the randoms of my life. Meaning, this is a miscellany post.

1. I'm officially attending the St. Louis Komen Race for the Cure! If you are feeling particularly giving and would like to donate to the Komen organization, click here for my webpage. I'm especially excited not only because I get to see my St. Louis girls, but because Keri will be at the race as well. In fact, I'm on the team called 'Wilkie's Warriors' and here are our fabulous shirts:
They say "team Keri" on the back and "Attitude is Everything" on the front. I love them. I can't wait for this experience!!

2. Happy belated 33rd anniversary to Mom and Dad!! I called them on their big day and they said it was officially a 'no cooking weekend' in honor of their celebration. And Dad got Mom a dozen red roses. Aren't they squeezable?

3. We are in week #1 out of 18 weeks of marathon training and it's going well so far. We only have to run 3 miles during the week, but we have to do it for three days in a row [barf!]. And this weekend is a 6 miler so we'll see how that goes. I'm not liking the three consecutive days of running after being on my feet all day long, so maybe I'll try to run before work [I doubt it will happen].

4. I'm still sick from San Diego! I have lots of drainage and coughing fits and it's been a week and a half. Do you think I'm dying?

5. Nate is rocking PT school so far. He's so cute studying each night and telling me about his new little school friends he's made. His first big test is next week already, so wish him luck!

6. Apparently I passed my 200th post without a blip in the radar. I don't know how this happened without me noticing but....whoo hoo for 200 posts!

7. Also, apparently my knot bios committed suicide. Either that or they've expired a year after my wedding. Someone emailed me for hairstyle pictures, since the ones in my bio are whacked out and fuzzy now. Anyone know why this could be? You can see for yourself through my link on the right column. Maybe I should just delete the whole thing anyway. I mean, I haven't even been on The Knot for almost a year....but still, I put a lot of work into those bad boys back in the day.

8. Can I just reiterate how awesome our new computer is right now? Because it's the bomb. Case in point: the new iPhoto 08. Now they store your pictures in groups with a little album cover. When you roll over the album cover you can scroll through all of your pictures, too. It's superfab, you guys, and here is a screen shot for you:

9. I am putting the finishing touches on our San Diego Blurb album. Want to see a few layouts? Click to make bigger and check my website under 'examples' for all of them.

10. I have decided that I need to be more social up here. I mean, I've lived in Milwaukee for a whole year now [gasp!] and I've been too lazy to make friends. I keep saying, "I already have my friends and don't feel like putting forth the effort to make new ones." Well that is all fine and good but my friends are in other states. We keep in touch through phone calls and email but I need some girls here, too.

And so, watch out: next Wednesday I'm meeting a few of the local bloggers for dinner and drinks. Thursday I'm going to a farewell party for a co-worker. Saturday some of us girls at work have organized a 'girls night out and SATC party.' My co-workers and I rarely plan fun activities like this since everyone has such busy schedules with kids and families and what not [ahem, everyone but me:)].

Just call me a social butterfly, I suppose. Not really sure how I'm going to do all of that and train for this marathon, but whatever.

11. Speaking of, after watching The Dog Whisperer I decided that Henry needs to start running with me again. He used to love a good long jog but lately he's been lazy [just like his mommy]. So I took him with me on a 3 mile run and this was the result later that night:

He actually LOVED running with me but later on he pooped out for the whole night. Can't say that I blame him because this is how I usually feel, too:)

And I think that is all the randomness I can remember right now. Enjoy the weekend!
