100 things about me.

{please note: these were written in 2007. That is a very long time ago, now. I have tried to update this list a bit but there really isn't a point---so much has happened since the start of this blog, it's almost fun to read back on how my life could be summarized in these points at that time!}

  1. When my alarm goes off each morning, the very first thing I think is: I HAVE to go to bed earlier tonight.
  2. I love black coffee, preferably the really expensive kind.
  3. I hated coffee until I started studying at Starbucks. They sucked me into their black hole and I’ve never looked back.
  4. I also love red wine, which is another recent acquisition.
  5. My alcohol progression went like this: hard liquor, beer, blush wine, white wine, and now red wine. I’m here to stay.
  6. I eat the same exact thing for breakfast each morning: PB and honey toast.
  7. Sometimes I wonder if I’ll ever grow out of this phase.
  8. I have brown hair and brown eyes. I used to lovingly refer to my eyes and hair as “poop brown.” I don’t know why.
  9. I dated my husband for 5 years before marrying him.
  10. Dating the love of your life during college is hard. Very hard. I’m extremely glad we made it through that phase.
  11. I got married Sunday, May 27, 2007.
  12. It was Memorial Day weekend and I’m excited to have a holiday weekend for every anniversary.
  13. I don’t know if we’ll actually make use of those potential vacation days. We don’t take enough trips together.
  14. I became slightly wedding crazed during my planning.
  15. I’m still trying to overcome this bridal disease.
  16. We went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and it was absolute heaven on earth.
  17. Nate got sick one of the days on our HM. I was slightly peeved at him for wasting a day.
  18. We packed up a 17 foot U-Haul two days after our wedding and moved to Milwaukee, WI.
  19. That was a very stressful move.
  20. I was a lifeguard during college summers.
  21. I almost drowned in high school.
  22. We have a cockapoo named Henry who just turned two years old. {UPDATE: ahem, he just turned four now. He is getting so old!}
  23. Henry loves other dogs but is painfully frightened of people. It is kind of embarrassing at times.
  24. My parents never let us have a dog growing up. My dad said they were too “messy.”
  25. Then my parents got a dog 2 weeks before I got Henry. She makes a lot of messes in their house☺
  26. I have one younger brother, Michael, who is 6 years my junior.
  27. I wanted a little sister so badly that I dressed Michael up in my old clothes.
  28. My mom warned me that I could turn my brother gay.
  29. Nate also has a younger brother, Jon, who is 4 years his junior.
  30. Nate never dressed Jon in any girlie clothing, I don’t think.
  31. It’s weird to think that I have in-laws.
  32. It’s even weirder to think that I have a husband.
  33. I want to have 2-3 kids but probably not for a few years. {UPDATE: pregnant in summer 2009, Truman born in 2010! I was right on with my prediction back in 2007. Pregnant again in 2011, due May 2012. On our way to growing our family...}
  34. I have an unfounded worry that I won’t be able to have kids.{UPDATE: DUMB.}
  35. I’m also worried that I’ll be a miserable pregnant lady who has stretch marks and a very large arse.{UPDATE: no stretch marks after pregnancy #1. My butt did get big, but then it shrunk back down.}
  36. I realize I’m not ready to have kids when I worry about my arse.
  37. Even though I’m slim I still have my fat days like everyone else.
  38. Nothing annoys Nate more than when I complain about being chunky. I can’t say that I blame him for being annoyed, since I annoy myself with it.
  39. When we do have kids, I hope to convince my parents to move to WI. {UPDATE: hasn't happened yet, even with their grand kids pulling them up north!}
  40. I’d really like to have both sets of Grandparents here so our children can be exposed to both sides of the family.
  41. It’s also purely selfish because I’d like to have 2 sets of babysitters.
  42. Daycare costs frighten me. {UPDATE: hell yes! And now it's a reality.}
  43. We are attempting to save enough money for a down payment on our first home.
  44. It’s quite difficult and a little depressing at times, because it feels like we’ll never get there.
  45. Once we do purchase a home I don’t think I’ll ever want to move again. I despise moving with a passion.
  46. Speaking of passions, I love interior decorating, photography, and making crafts.
  47. Unfortunately my job doesn’t really allow for artistic expression.
  48. I’m a Physical Therapist in a hospital here in Milwaukee. {UPDATE: not true, I'm in home care now. Much more flexible as a mom. And I'm only working part time now = awesome}
  49. Working in healthcare is both rewarding and draining, but never boring.
  50. My husband now wants to be a P.T. just like me. {UPDATE: he's there! Got his doctorate in May 2011.}
  51. I attended a Lutheran grade school for 9 years, a public high school, and a Jesuit university. My parents’ church is Southern Baptist. And I’m not sure which denomination fits me the best.
  52. I never knew there were so many Catholics in the world until I went to college at SLU.
  53. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 27, 1981. It almost always rains on my birthday.
  54. We then moved to Denver, Colorado and I have very fond memories of my backyard swing set from that house. My Grandpa made it for me and it was the bomb.
  55. Next we moved to Jefferson City, Missouri which is where I consider home.
  56. I never knew Jeff City was considered po-dunk country until I attended SLU.
  57. When I turned 16 I passed my drivers test with flying colors. I believe my score was a 97% and I aced parallel parking.
  58. Then, that same year, I backed my mom’s car into our basketball goal.
  59. KNOCK ON WOOD but I’ve never been in a car accident.
  60. I have gotten 2 speeding tickets and they were within 2 months of each other. I cried both times.
  61. And both of those tickets had sketchy circumstances involved. I don’t think I deserved either one.
  62. If I had the guts to do it, and wasn’t worried about making money, I would try to become a wedding planner. I think I’d be damn good at it, if I do say so myself.
  63. But I’m not really sure I could deal with some of the bridezillas out there. Or brides with bad tastes. I couldn’t handle that either.
  64. I’ve had stitches 6 times in my life, including twice in my upper lip and two more times in my face.
  65. The only bone I’ve ever broken was my left hand ring finger. I broke it in high school basketball and immediately, my dad told me I couldn’t get married since a ring wouldn’t fit.
  66. I don’t wear any jewelry except for my wedding rings, a digital sports watch and occasionally I’ll wear some tiny stud earrings.
  67. I have a weakness for pretty papers, stationary, wrapping papers, and different cards. It’s a sickness, really.
  68. Little known fact: I was once a cheerleader in the eighth grade. That same year I also played basketball so I was both a butch and a girlie girl.
  69. I’ve had braces three different times in my life, from the fifth to the tenth grade.
  70. Sometimes I wonder what I ever did with myself before I got my laptop.{UPDATE: now I've upgraded to a beautiful iMac and Nate has the iBook. Sucker!}
  71. I ran a half marathon with Nate Memorial Day weekend of 2005. I’d love to train for another half before trying a full, but I just don’t have the motivation anymore. {UPDATE: I found the motivation and ran a full in October 2008. And another half in April 2009. And trained for my second full in summer 2009 before getting knocked up. Then we did another half in October 2010 as parents. }
  72. I hated running in high school. I didn’t understand why people ran when they weren’t being chased.
  73. I played basketball and volleyball in high school and was a total jock.
  74. In my prime sports days, I would come home and eat a whole roll of Oreos with a half-gallon of 2% milk. If I did that now I would be on bedrest for the night.
  75. I have never been to NYC or Boston but they are all on my “must travel” list.
  76. I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain during my sophomore year in college.
  77. It was the best decision I’ve made and I have a ridiculous amount of good memories from that time in my life.
  78. I also gained an obscene amount of weight that semester. Even though they didn’t have dryers over there, I convinced myself that my clothes were shrinking. Totally not possible.
  79. My favorite place to travel was Dublin, Ireland.
  80. I called my parents and told them I was going to be a PT over there when I graduated. I guess I forgot about that dream along the way.
  81. While in Spain I got a star tattoo on my big toe. It hurt like hell.
  82. I used to collect quotes that I liked and I wish I could find my old quote book. I think I had some good ones in there I could have used for our wedding stuff.
  83. See? There I go again with the wedding. I have to stop that.
  84. I am obsessed with the color pink even though I know it’s extremely girlie and kind of obnoxious.
  85. I believe that everything happens for a reason, even if you don’t see it right away. Call me naïve if you’d like.
  86. My parents are Republicans and I just assumed I was, too. But lately I’ve decided to research candidates before voting a straight ticket.
  87. I hate the fact that I can’t do math in my head. It makes me feel quite challenged.
  88. My husband is obsessed with golf and wants me to play with him. I’m way too competitive to be a beginner in a sport.
  89. I’m 5’10” and feel quite masculine around tiny, cute, petite girls…or wussy little guys.
  90. Many of my best friends were intimidated by me when we first met and they claim it was because of my height [hopefully not my attitude].
  91. Summer is my favorite season hands down. I hate the cold which is quite ironic because of number 18.
  92. I absolutely dread doing laundry and going grocery shopping. And yet they are chores that won’t go away.
  93. Furniture arranged in a caddy corner fashion is my biggest pet peeve ever. It seriously grosses me out when people have beds coming out of the corner. [shudder].
  94. It bothers me that I don’t understand html. It is beyond my comprehension and mystifies me every time I try to do something with it.
  95. Photoshop is another thing that frustrates me. I wish I could figure that sucker out without screaming at my computer. {UPDATE: actually, it isn't that bad anymore. I kind of like it now.}
  96. I have a large and probably unhealthy crush on John Mayer. And I don’t care what anyone else says about him.
  97. I think I’d enjoy cooking if I actually put forth the effort. But for now, I’ll stick to eating my husband’s cooking.
  98. I never understood what a blog was until quite recently.
  99. I’d like to consider myself a leader and I’m not really comfortable being a follower.
  100. And yet, I made this list because I saw a few other “cool” bloggers do it. I hope to be a cool blogger someday☺

  6. Not sure if it's kosher to leave posts to other people on your comments, but Lindsey... talk about a showboater: "I LOVE doing math in my head." VERY!

  7. Yes, Lindsey...you are being very sure saying that you LOVE doing math in your head. Rub it in, why don't you! I guess that's why you are the worlds best F.A. and I am not. I miss you girls, too!

  8. You MUST go to San Francisco one day. I ran a marathon their in October, and it was amazing.

    OK, that's all :)

    Oh, and, if you have Facebook, look me up. Somehow.

  9. Oh, I agree with about 98% of this list. Love your blog!

  10. Found your blog via Elizabeth Anne Designs and I think it's great! Had to comment on the hair and eye color. I have brown eyes and hair too and all of the women in my mom's family do. We have always referred to them as poop brown eyes and my husband now always calls them that too, so I thought it was funny that someone else out there calls them poop brown. Maybe we should call them something nicer...like chocolate brown :)

  11. Google Reader suggested your blog to me, and it looks like Google knows me pretty well! Numbers 1, 72, 88 and 89 particularly had me nodding in agreement (oh, and I ran a half marathon, but in my case I have NO desire to do a full one).

  12. #42 FOR SURE! And I pay them already.

    #53 fits me to a T (except for the actually date :) ) Mine is May 10, 1979.

    I stumbled across your blog and now can't remember how I got here, but am SO glad I did. Love IT!!

  13. I just found your blog, through Leah, and I seriously love it. And you and your family (is that a bizarre/creepy thing to say to a stranger? probably...oops!). I have spent a while catching up on some older posts and am just in awe at your transition from newlywed to mommy, while working and being so active. What an incredible role model you are!

    I can't wait to read more!
